About your Goals - September 2022 Progress Check-in

As the third quarter of the year comes to an end, it is a great time to check in on our goals and start preparing for next year. There is something powerful about this time of the year, summer is over in the northern hemisphere, the new school year has started, and we are ready for the final months of this year. A few years ago, I started aligning my personal planning timeline to the one I use at work. We kicked off planning for the next year already in August. This gives us enough time to reflect on our progress this year and sufficiently prepare for the next year.

In this blog post, we will start dreaming of the year we want to have in 2023 and check the progress we have made toward our goals. Check out my other "Her Plan" posts for additional tips and resources to help you accomplish your goals and live your best life.

These past months have gone by very quickly. I feel fortunate to be where I am in my life at the moment, even though I feel tired. Below, I will be reflecting on my goals and the progress I have made.

  • Personal: Prioritize self-care and create sustainable routines

    • Highlight: Over the past months, I have made time for small activities for myself, such as getting a haircut and doing my nails regularly. It sounds like a small thing, but it is very important to me

    • Lowlight: I still have not been getting as much rest as I need to. With a toddler and being busy at work, my sleep has been affected

    • What am I planning to do differently?

      • I am planning to get into a better sleep routine and get as many naps as I can

  • Family: Make memories and enjoy our time as a family

    • Highlight: Our son got to enjoy the beach. The first time we took him to the beach, he refused to walk on the sand. And then, when we went a few weeks ago, he was shoveling sand in a sandcastle for almost an hour.

    • Lowlight: I have not explored any new ways of growing my wealth

    • What am I planning to do next?

      • Be patient and keep learning about ways to grow my finances

  • Business: Grow our community of women and create helpful content

    • Highlight: I have stayed on track and published a new blog post every week this year

    • Lowlight: My YouTube channel is still on hold. The time has still not come.

    • What am I planning to do differently?

      • Learn to wait for the right time to get back to speaking and my YouTube channel

  • Learning: develop the skills needed for the next phase of my career

    • Highlight: I have been learning a lot as I lead my team. As I pass knowledge to others, I am learning new skills

    • Lowlight: I had to cancel a training I had planned to start in August as the time was not right

    • What am I planning to do next?

      • Continue teaching and learning from others

  • Bold Goal: Take the next step higher in my career

    • Current status: I am making progress in my career and doing much more than I imagined

Final Thoughts
As I reflected on my progress toward my goals, I realized that the biggest lesson I learned is to be patient and wait until it is the right time to do certain things. In order to make progress in one area of my life, I have had to accept that other areas will be on hold for a little while. I am learning to be ok with that, not be hard on myself, and celebrate my progress. 2022 has been a great year with lots of hard work, and I am seeing the rewards.
